Floor plan General informationThe owner sells a 180-square meter share consisting of two interconnected apartments in the castle. The share includes a right to own and use the lands and the common facilities of the castle. It is possible to have two or more buyers for the entity. Showing of the estate is also possible and to be discussed with the owner. The share of the castle is at your disposal from the moment the contract has been signed. Castle facilitiesBoth of the apartments have full facilities for year-round living. The upper apartment has one bathroom and a cooking corner with a stove and sink. The lower apartment has a well equipped kitchen and two bathrooms. The dining room of the common facilities has a large fully equipped kitchen. The castle is heated with electric radiators. Hot water is assured with a gas boiler built in 2001. The swimming pool was fully renovated in 2004 and has modern cleaning machinery. Castle gardener takes care of the swimming pool, and in return for his services, is allowed to use the courtyard building for his private purposes. The castle has two garages for cars.
History and surroundings of the castleThe 1320 square meter castle was built in 1714 for the Baron De Nogaret. The castle remained in the family until World War I, after which it was sold to an antique dealer. In the 1980's the castle was purchased by a Dutch couple, who ran a hotel and a restaurant in it. Eventually the castle was bought by a group of Finnish individuals, who split it into vacation apartments for their personal use. The castle is located in Southern France, 170 km north from the Mediterranean coast and 590 km south from Paris, in a small village named St. Laurent d'Olt. The village lies on a small hill surrounded by the Lot river. At 550 meters altitude, the village offers open views on the surrounding typical French landscapes.
Services and leisure opportunitiesThe village of St. Laurent d'Olt offers basic daily services. The small grocery store is open daily except for Mondays from 8:30 to 12:30. There is a bakery, a post office, a pharmacy, a self-service gas station, a doctor, a small café serving food if ordered on the previous day and a hotel open in the summer months. About 10 km away from the castle, in the villages of Banassac and la Canourque, one can find almost all services needed including restaurants, hotels, banks etc. The closest larger city is Millau, renowned for its medieval architecture as well as for the "Millau Bridge" - the highest bridge in the world. The surroundings offer a large variety of free time activities. The closest golf-course and tennis fields are in La Canourque (10 km away). Within a range of an hour and a half's drive there are three other 18-hole golf courses.
The nature and hills in the region are very appreciated for trekking. An hour away one can find the deep canyons of the Tarn-river, where it is possible to hire canoes.
